Well now, darlin’, let me introduce you to the charming world we’ve created on this wee corner of Hope Street in Lanark.
The Posh Wee Pelican is a world of curiosities and curated collections. A finer place you would be hard pressed to find. We do like things to feel elegant and refined though never even the tiniest bit stiff. Wander in, and you will find the warmest welcome and treasures galore.

The Pelican's Tale

As told by Percival Beauregard, Esq.

From the Maker’s Table

Before there was a shop, darlin’, there was a maker covered in sawdust, a mind filled with ideas, and a firm belief that fine things ought to be properly seen before they are chosen. Some treasures do not belong trapped behind a screen. They need to be held in the hand, turned toward the light, and considered with care. And that, I do declare, is still the heart of this little establishment: proper craft, thoughtful detail, and gifts with a story stitched, carved, engraved, or quietly tucked inside them. These are the pieces with a little soul about them.

Chosen, Not Planned

Now, I would love to tell you there was some grand and sensible master plan, all drawn up with rulers, ledgers, and respectable cups of tea. Truth be told, some places do not arrive by careful calculation. Some places simply tap you on the shoulder and say, “Here I am.”That is rather how this little shop found MJ. So in came the curtains, the chandelier, the treasures, the makers, the tea, and all the little details that make The Posh Wee Pelican what it is. It is not just a shop, you understand. It is a place with charm in its bones.

Why the Pelican?

MJ's roots reach all the way back to Louisiana, where pelicans are not merely birds. We are part of the landscape, the folklore, and the very soul of the place. We know a thing or two about watchfulness, hospitality, and a certain natural dignity. As it happens, the pelican has found his way into Scottish art and old symbolism too. So when MJ asked if I might consider being the mascot and guiding presence of her wee shop, well, I could hardly refuse. It is not every day a pelican is invited to take up such a post, and a gentleman knows when to say yes.
